The Central Ohio MABL is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Rick Fryman, who passed away unexpectedly at his residence on Wednesday, January 31, 2024.
Rick was active in several baseball programs in Napoleon, Ohio, where he was from and resided, but most players of the Central Ohio MABL knew him as President of the Columbus Men's Senior Baseball League and more so as the Manager of the Columbus Pirates (25+). He led the Columbus MSBL for the last 12 years, managed the Pirates for the last 25 years and was instrumental in establishing a series of cross over games between the Columbus MSBL and Central Ohio MABL, known as the President’s Cup and continued the annual ASG between the two leagues.
I will miss Rick's counsel as a counterpart and our conversations about baseball and Michigan. He will be missed by the Central Ohio baseball community.
On behalf of the teams and players of the Central Ohio MABL, our prayers and deepest sympathies are with Rick's wife, family, friends, and the baseball community that knew him.
Friends and family will be received at the Rodenberger-Gray Funeral Home, Napoleon, on Sunday, February 4, 2024, from 2:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday, February 5, 2024, at 11:00 AM with an hour of visitation prior to services. Interment will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Patrick Henry Athletic Department, Henry County Humane Society, the Napoleon Senior Little League or to Napoleon City Parks and Recreation for the youth baseball program. Online condolences and messages may be shared with the family at rodenbergergray.com.
