Runs were scarce at Huntington BallPark, in the annual ASG between the Central Ohio MABL and Columbus MSBL. In a well pitched game by both teams, the Central Ohio MABL got a late run to win the game 2-1.
David Schart (Columbus Barracudas) hit a solo shot (HR) in the bottom of the 3rd to give the COMABL an early 1-0 lead. The CMSBL answered with their lone run in the top of the 4th inning on a double and RBI single. Chase Kilgore (Ohio Pirates) made the defensive play of the game by throwing a missile to erase the speedy Nate Campbell (Columbus Pirates (former COMABL player) trying to steal 2nd that ended the inning.
Danny Wisard (Dugout Baseball) reached base in the bottom of the 8th on an error, advancing on a single by Joseph Cordoba (Columbus Mustangs). Wisard scored on the RBI groundout by Derek Barnhart (Ohio Blue Jays) giving the Central Ohio MABL a 2-1 lead entering the ninth. Daniel Kreuzer retired the Columbus MSBL hitters in order to close out the game.
In one of the most dominating group pitching performances, the Central Ohio MABL All Star Staff was absolutely lights out- R, 3H, 15K, ZERO BB. After opening the game by retiring the first eight hitters, the Columbus MSBL did not have a hit after the 4th inning and only had one base runner over the last five innings as the staff retired 15 of the last 16 hitters to come to the plate.
